Nothing Beats Cooking With Friends

I love to spend time in the kitchen. Whether it’s my husband and I making dinner for the two of us, or a group of friends over for pizza night, the kitchen is truly the heart of our home. Fortunately, a lot of my friends like to cook also, so that’s often how we spend our time together. We also share our kitchen ‘finds’ – the coolest new gadget or the perfect pan we can’t live without. So, based on our “oh, that’s cool” list of kitchen finds, here are some kitchen gifts for friends who love to cook.

Small Simple Kitchen Gifts For Friends

There are times when we want to show our friends that we are thinking about them with a ‘small-little-something’. Maybe you want to say thank you, or just ‘thinking about you’, or they’re having a bad day/week/month and need a little pick me up.

There are some great small, inexpensive kitchen gifts that show your friends you care. And if you don’t live close by each other, if you order through Amazon you can have it sent directly to your friend’s address. It’s easy to add a personal note, and sometimes even gift wrap. I’ve been impressed with the gift wrap job that Amazon does.

Time For Mimosas With Friends

When my friends and I get together, especially for brunch or a girls weekend, mimosas are usually involved! A Champagne bottle opener and Champagne stopper are must-haves in my circle. This three pack of stoppers is perfect. Keep one for yourself and you have two to give!

One girls weekend awhile back, we were trying to pop the cork on a bottle of sparkling wine. I didn’t have a champagne opener with me, so I resorted to using a garlic press. Now, I love my garlic press, and while it was hysterical to see (we still laugh about it), it is not an efficient way to open a bottle!

Everyone Needs Dish Towels!

I love giving and receiving dish towels. They’re useful, and a using a new dish towel feels good somehow. I love the sentiment on this one. ‘Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there’. Wouldn’t that make you feel special if you received this as a gift?

I love this one too. ‘You and I are more than friends. We’re like a really small gang.’ Hit’s home, right?

For Your Environmentally Conscious Friends

One of my favorite little kitchen gifts I received was from my friend Myra. Myra loves to find ways to reduce waste and reuse what she can. She gave me a Swedish dishcloth about a year ago, and I love it! They are also sometimes called reusable paper towels. One Swedish dishcloth can replace 17 rolls of paper towels! They dry quickly and can be machine washed. And they come in a lot of cute patterns! I think this set of chicken patterns is adorable! And the fruit patterns will brighten up any kitchen!

These Circulon Non-stick Baking Sheets make a great gift too for friends who like to help the environment. They reduce waste by eliminating the need for parchment paper or foil since they are truly non-stick. Durable, well made and very easy to clean! I love using them for roasting vegetables. The Circulon does not warp in the oven like some baking sheets do. You can purchase just the baking sheets, or get a set that includes baking and bread pans.

Special Occasion Kitchen Gifts For Friends Who Love To Cook

Sometimes you want to give your BFF’s something special that they will have for a long time. Maybe it’s a birthday or other special occasion, like buying a new home. For those friends who love to cook, there are some great kitchen gifts that your friends will cherish and appreciate.

Cookbooks Mean Sharing

A new cookbook is always a welcome gift. My friends and I are always sharing new recipes. Some of my favorite cookbooks are from vegan author Isa Chandra Moskowitz. I have a number of her cookbooks. I have honestly never made a recipe of Isa’s that I didn’t love!

If you are able to give a cookbook as a gift in person, be sure to write a personal note in the front cover. I also like to tag a couple of my favorite recipes. And if you receive a cookbook as a gift and there is not a note in the front cover, write down who gave it to you, when and for what occasion. Years later I still enjoy opening a cookbook and remembering who gave it to me and why.

The first Isa cookbook I got was Isa Does It. It’s still my favorite. Be sure to try the Tofu Mushroom Stroganoff! It’s amazing!

Another favorite is Vegan with a Vengeance. And if it’s a holiday gift, then the Superfun Times Vegan Holiday Cookbook is perfect! Recipes are broken down by holiday, which makes it easy to find a great recipe regardless of the occasion.

Who Doesn’t Love Sourdough Bread?

If you’ve read my post My Full-Circle Easy Sourdough Bread Recipe, then you know I’ve been baking sourdough for a couple of years now. My family and friends love it! What’s not to love, right?

Making sourdough isn’t for everyone. It does take some practice, and some time. But for those friends who have expressed an interest in making sourdough bread, the gift of sourdough starter and a bread banneton (proofing basket) is perfect! You can give sourdough starter either fresh in a jar, or you can dry your sourdough starter to be rehydrated later. I love this banneton set because it includes everything you need to get started with baking sourdough.

For a really special gift, you can include a cast iron dutch oven for baking the bread. The dutch oven would even make nice packaging. Nestle the banneton and starter inside and put a big bow around the whole thing!

Have you ever made butternut squash noodles? During a visit to my girlfriends place, we got out the Vegetable Sheet Cutter Attachment for her Kitchenaid mixer. We made beautiful butternut squash noodles for lasagna! If this sounds good to you, check out my recipe for Lasagna With Butternut Squash Noodles. The Vegetable Sheet Cutter Attachment would make a perfect gift!

Cooking Connects People

If you and your BFF’s love to cook, then I hope you’ll consider these kitchen gifts for your friends. These are all things that I have given and/or received from my friends, or we have used together in the kitchen.

Cooking for someone is a way to show them you care about them. It’s a way to invest your time and energy and give the gift of yourself. Cooking WITH someone takes it a step further. Together you take individual items and work together to combine them in a way that creates something amazing. And with my friends, that usually includes a lot of laughter and memory making in addition to great food!

I think it can be hard trying to pick something for someone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen but this helps a lot because it also offers things that people need but often forget about like Swedish Dishcloths (that I use everyday and absolutely love!). Thank you for the great ideas!
